Did you know? Denver is one of the few cities in history that was not built on a road, railroad, lake, navigable river or body of water when it was founded. It just happened to be where the first few flakes of gold were found in 1858.
Did you know? As Union Pacific was building the transcontinental railroad, Denver was not included in the major transportation routes, but Cheyanne, Wyoming was. Thankfully some very prominate business leaders in Denver parternered with East Coast investors to form a railroad company that would link Denver and the Colorado Territory with the national rail network. The company was incorporated on November 19, 1867 as the “Denver Pacific Railway and Telegraph Company.” Some would argue that if Denver was not connected to the transcontinental railroad, our city would not be what it is today.
